The Malleable Mom

Patient Leader

My children and I have EDS. I was chronically ill and undiagnosed for 30+ years, and fell through every Western & Alternative Medicine crack until my children became symptomatic. I worked as a Peds Nurse for 10 years until my migraines became too debilitating to continue working outside the home. Now I dedicate myself to writing and blogging to help other people cope with their chronic illness through laughter and good information, which is lacking. I find that no matter what the cause of the illness, there are many similarities: lack of control, time management, pain, and the spoon theory. We are stronger together. I often share wisdom "with a shot of vodka," so don't take me too seriously!

Ashley is an incredibly honest, forthright, and talented writer, who has the amazing ability to find humor in the worst of situations. She has brought new light to EDS and connective tissue disorders, a patient population that is often overlooked and treated incorrectly. Without a doubt, she has already helped an enormous amount of people.  — Jennifer

I have a funny and informative place for all people living with chronic illness. The problems are different, and yet the same. I fell through the diagnostic cracks for over 30 years, and now have two children with EDS. I don't want what happened to me to be anyone elses fate! Information is power and laughter is healing. Together, we are stronger.  — Ashley

Ashley is one of the strongest women I know with a big heart, a generous spirit and the ability to make me think, laugh, cry and want to spread the word on migraines and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. She most definitely deserves this award, as she is a champion of her cause, and a beautiful person, both inside and out.  — Teri

Ashley is an inspiration. She has a true passion for bringing awareness to invisible illness and support for the families that are living with it. Ashley has a gift for opening up discussion, supplying information, and adding just the right amount of humor. She's an incredibly genuine person who is truly impacting lives.  — Jenn

She is making a positive difference for those suffering from chronic and invisible illnesses. Her sense of humor and authenticity are inspiring!  — Erica

Dealing with full body pain 24/7 can get really REALLY depressing. The Malleable Mom is able to make me snicker, laugh, AND teach me so much about Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. As soon as I stumbled upon it, I knew this blog was exactly what the doctor ordered. Anyone who has the tagline "a dash of wisdom with a splash of vodka" gets a thumbs up from me!  — Cristiana
