In 2002, I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I was just 16 at the time. I had struggled to find my place in the world believing I was defined by my disorder. Then one day I decided to stop living by the world's view of what someone with mental illness was like. i started to begin to live my life how i wanted it to be seen. Now a mother of two beautiful boys and a wife of a loving husband, I wanted to chronicle my journey. I will admit everyday is a struggle. However, if one person benefits from my words then it worth writing. What has started as a way to cope has blossomed into a fight to change the view of the world.
Lauren is an incredible mental health advocate and writer. She has come so far in such a short amount of time thanks to her passion, dedication and commitment to help others through her experience as a mom with bipolar. She already has made a positive difference in the lives of others who have bipolar disorder, & I'm inspired by her vision!
