As the Executive Director of TEAAM Autism, I am charged with developing what is essentially the hub for the autism community in Mississippi. Through TEAAM Autism a number of services are provided by me and my team of autism professionals. We maintain Support Chapters across the state that support local families through advocacy and information. We also maintain a statewide toll-free number for family and professional support. We provide consultative services to schools and state agencies to help them improve their services to persons on the autism spectrum. TEAAM is also the owner of the Center Ridge Outpost which host summer camps and weekend retreats. In 2013, the Outpost hosted over 250 persons on the spectrum and another 150 volunteers through its programs In 2014 TEAAM Autism will unveil a new innovative certification training program entitled, D-BESt (Dynamic Behavioral Education Strategies). This program has been developed by me and my team of professional consultants using field tested and proven strategies. The training is designed to teach a D-BESt Practitioner the concept of "how" to think about the challenges a person is facing not just "what" to think. The program utilizes a strong mixture of common sense and scientific approaches in a mix that allows parents and professionals to be effective in those roles as well as effectively supporting individuals.
