Patient Leader

I was diagnosed aged 12 with the incurable bowel condition Crohn's Disease. In late 2011 he became the 11th person to undergo a small bowel transplant in the UK at The Churchill Hospital in Oxford. In the build up to transplant I started blogging about my journey through Bowel Transplant. Over the last 18 months my blog has over 95,000 followers and is used my transplant teams, medical students and patients as a way of understanding a real time journey through transplant. In addition I use social media to develop global on line peer to peer communities covering over 20,000 patients. I now have the great privilege of developing and implimenting social media strategies around patient engagement. I nowl mentors patients and their families; am a published author & professional speaker. I have the great privilege of being the patient lead for leading UK social media tweetchat #NHSSM, am a facilitator for Centre for Patient Leadership & digital strategy advisor to The Patients Association & Oxford Transplant Foundation.
