Dana Trentini (aka Hypothyroid Mom)

Patient Leader

Who knew that little butterfly-shaped thyroid gland at the base of our necks could affect our lives so completely? I launched my blog Hypothyroid Mom on October 1st, 2012 in memory of the unborn baby I lost to hypothyroidism and in dedication to my two boys who beat the odds and made it to the world. Within just over a year of its launch, HypothyroidMom.com has 240,446 monthly page views with 71,152 monthly unique visitors from 162 countries in the world. What’s crazy about all this? I never blogged, used Twitter or Facebook ever before the launch of Hypothyroid Mom. The Thyroid Federation International estimates there are up to 300 million thyroid sufferers worldwide, majority with hypothyroidism, yet over half are unaware of their condition. Imagine...that means over 150 million thyroid sufferers remain undiagnosed. I’ve often wondered if I am crazy to think I can change the world but something deep inside me tells me that this is what I am supposed to do. After 4 years of intense research and an unstoppable quest to find the top thyroid experts, I'm ready to share all that I have learned. The time has come for change. Thanks to all my amazing followers, Hypothyroid Mom is even better than I dreamed. My fans ROCK!

Dana is my Health activist hero; because she is compassionate, selfless, and all heart! She truly stands alone in her desire to bring awareness on thyroid disease world wide. She has made a difference for so many and deserve to be nominated.

Her courage, intelligence and compassion helped me start my "Road To Recovery". I am in "Phase One", just met with my Internist and gathered several of Dana's research from her website, printed it off and presented it to my Doctor. I Know I would have NEVER had the strength, courage or knowledge had it not been for Dana inspiring me to take control of my life. My Doctor ordered 18 labs, 4 tubes of blood!  — Penny
