Lois has been a teacher, advocate and political activist for Crohn's and inflammatory bowel disease for over a decade. She has taught medical and nursing students about IBD from the patient perspective, championed the successful WA state "bathroom bill," has a consistent presence in the media and online, and created the Ostomy Awareness Ribbon.  — Deborah

Lois has been a patient advocate for both the IBD and ostomy communities for thirty plus years. Working with the media, both newspaper, radio and television, Lois worked to overcome the negative perception regarding ostomy surgery. She worked for passage of a restroom access bill in Washington state, presented at conferences and wrote a book.  — Lois
