I'm a nine-year breast cancer survivor who was diagnosed due to a free mammogram via my employer at the time. I was 36 with no family history or palpable abnormalities. Breast cancer gave me a passion and purpose in life that I never had before, which is to not only educate others on the importance of early detection but to support others on their journeys as well. I have been able to do that and more by becoming involved with Young Survival Coalition, Living Beyond Breast Cancer, Bright Pink a 2018 Peer Review Panelist for the Department of Defense Breast Cancer Research Program and a 2019 American Association for Cancer Research Scientist <-> Survivor program participant.

It’s important to not only be an active participant in your health decisions and to give yourself the best chance to not only survive breast cancer, but any other health condition you may be dealing with. I forward on information to others that will help them create early detection/prevention strategies and inspiration to life the healthiest life. — Katie
