Hey, I'm Jameisha although I go by You Look Okay To Me on the internet. I'm a 23 year old Lupus, Migraine and Hip Impingement warrior from South London. I was diagnosed with Lupus back in 2015. This came after a long period of unexplained joint pain and fatigue. I felt happy and validated after my diagnosis but this soon turned to sadness. I found that not many of friends or family members were able to understand me. Doctors doubted me. People couldn't see how much I was suffering on the inside because I looked okay on the outside. Because of this, I decided to set up You Look Okay To Me to create a space where I could make creative content about chronic illnesses. It allowed me to connect with many other people living with long term conditions as well as educate people who wanted to learn more. Since starting my blog and social media accounts, my community has grown. It's become a space of teaching, learning and sharing. The page has allowed me to use my skills and passions (documentary filmmaking, editing and journalism) to hopefully create real change in the world. I believe the best way to create a better planet for people with chronic illnesses, mental health conditions and other disabilities is through education. To me, the most effective way to do this is through creativity and producing engaging content for audiences. I hope to continue to push for social change through You Look Okay To Me.
Jameisha tells it like it is but educates you at the same time. She doesn't have nearly as many followers as she deserves. I love watching her videos because she does such a great job of explaining things. — Elizabeth
