Anuradha - Fibromyalgia Awareness

Patient Leader

There's tremendous lack of awareness about Fibromyalgia. The symptoms include 24x7 pain, hypersensitivities, fatigue, memory fog, etc. Patients suffer more as people don't believe they are really ill and unable to do many basic things. Most end up being jobless, some go through divorces and there's an increased risk of suicide. It's crucial for the patients to stay informed and have positive energy. I have been raising awareness with www.fibromyalgiaawareness.com blog, Facebook page (over 8000 members), Twitter, meets, etc. I try my best to provide information, support, news, research updates, tips and small joys to the patients. Recently, I have also started #‎FibromyalgiaPalmChallenge.

Finalist

Rookie of the Year

Anuradha is tireless in her efforts to bring awareness to fibromyalgia. She has a friendly attitude toward everyone she comes in contact with. It doesn't matter how bad she is feeling, she genuinely cares about helping others. Her facebook page, is a blog dedicated to spread awareness about Fibromyalgia and help those suffering from the 'Invisible Illness'. Her group, Fibromyalgia Awareness, is also a great help to all that are fortunate to be a part of it. I believe her to be a great inspiration to the Fibro Community.  — Peter

Anuradha spread awareness about fibromyalgia. She is actively post the information and give advice to members of the page and working hard to raise awareness in India where mostly people are not heard about.  — Deepa

She was the first person who I know to do something about her condition i.e fibromyalgia, especially in a low awareness country like India. Inspite of her pain she has been actively spreading the word through social media, blogs and offline as well. Not just that, she has also been a great support system to the members on her page. Eager to offer advice or just lend an ear, she has touched lives.  — Mrinal

Anuradha is an inspiration ! I have the honour of working with her as a co-Administrator on her Fibromyalgia Awareness page and only chose to do so because her page helps so many and her blog also. We have an illness that is difficult for us to get recognition or awareness. Anuradha's work, dedication and unrelenting commitment to her cause needs to be recognised and celebrated. A truly remarkable woman and I hope you will seriously consider her for this honour which she in turn will use to further promote Fibro Awareness. Thank you.  — Veronica

I never knew about fibromyalgya before Anuradha. Her posts are witty, realistic and sometimes bring a smile to your face. She goes out of her way to build a community so that people who suffer and those around them can deal with the condition.  — Suda

Fantastic work by Anuradha....She definitely deserves this award for her dedication & brilliant work displayed right from Day 1 !!  — Sushil

Her work towards increasing fibromaylgia Awareness is really outstanding. Not only a good human being but an outstanding person who is very helpful and you can easily approach her for taking any guidance. i would say she perfectly the best example for the following quote : "A good character is the best tombstone. Those who loved you and were helped by you will remember you when forget-me-nots have withered. Carve your name on hearts, not on marble." Anuradha with your work you have touched many hearts and i wish you win this award and all my good wishes and prayers for you.  — Abhishek

She is working hard to create awareness for FIbromyalgia, the silent disease and to make sure people living with FM get the support they need  — Lakshmi

She is doing a tremendous job in spreading information about Fibromyalgia. It's an invisible illness, which makes it difficult for the affected person to prove that she is ill. Through her blog, she has proved to be a hope for millions suffering from the disease.  — Keyur

As a disease Fibromyalgia is completely unknown in India. Anu who suffers from it, has done a splendid job of creating this awareness. And not only has she spread the awareness in India but globally. Most importantly, the way she writes, she doesn't sob about her condition. Rather, she provides inspiration for thousands of others to still keep their head high and find courage to combat the disease. Her blog also has world of information about Fibromyalgia - the diagnosis/conditions about it, how to relieve pain, any news/information about the disease. Keep the great work, I say Anuradha  — Latha

Anuradha has been working hard to promote the awareness of Fibromyalgia. She has not only voiced her opinion but allowed those who suffer from the condition to tell their stories in order to inspire and motivate suffers to take control of their illness.  — Mae

Well she has shown utmost devotion and dedication towards Fibromyalgia Awareness and creating a strong support group online as well as offline. I am touched to actually see people confiding in her, smile because of her and most importantly feel better because of her. It's a big thing if a Fibromyalgia patient feels good for even a minute.  — Mrinal

Anuradha is single-handedly raising awareness on Fibromyalgia in India. The support group created by her brings together people facing similar health concern, and gives a platform to share experiences and advice. It is also helpful just getting to talk with other people who are in the same boat.  — Shilpa

Anuradha has been relentlessly involved in the cause for spreading awareness for fibromyalgia . I am one of the many who has been educated about this health condition thanks to her efforts. She truly is a hero , not only fighting her own battle with the disease but also helping others. I wish her luck in her endeavors.

Spreading awareness about fibromyalgia in a country where there is absolute no awareness about it... outing best efforts even with her own health condition and helping others with health issues.  — anup

Annu has got fighter attitude, after being diagnosed with fibromylagia she did not let go of this spirit .Looking at the level of awareness about this illness in our nation which was almost non existent ,she single handedly assumed the responsibility of creating blogs and other forums on fibro to spread the message .Kudos to much derserved activist  — Ranjeeta

I admire Anuradha for all that she has been doing this for a cause. When I read those experiences, see those smiling faces despite all the reasons to not to.. I can feel their zeal for life which is so infectious that my heart truly salutes this lady for all that she has managed to do in such a short while.  — privy

The team is the best bunch of people I know. Each admin has Fibromyalgia, and yet painstakingly manages the Facebook support page. The ones with lesser pain hold the fort so that others in flare can take rest. It's an awesome team of like-minded people who ensure that members of the page get all the useful information, support, love and advice.  — Anuradha

I personally think Anuradha is doing a good thing by spreading more awareness about Fibromyalgia .  — Rahul

She is really giving her 100% in helping people by writing about it. I like her spirit towards it.  — Nargis

She has been the driving force in generating awareness for Fibromyalgia across the world. Through her online initiatives she has been able to throw light on the symptoms of the disease and how to cope with it. She has been motivating people to talk about it and garner awareness amongst the care takers of the patients as well. Inspirational!  — Kajal

For her amazing work in raising Fibromyalgia awareness, a true inspiration to us all!  — Alma

Working hard with full dedication to make more & more people aware of fibromyalgia.  — Sushmita

I had heard of fibromyalgia sometime ago and then I met Anuradha and got to know her story through the medium of Facebook. Even a positive soul needs to be acknowledged for the good because it tells the soul that it was being watched and this will inspire people to do more.  — Sriram
