I'm an experienced patient leader with over 11 years of patient advocacy work in Taiwan. I've been sick since I was a child, but my symptoms at the time didn't interfere with an extremely athletic style. I thought it was normal to be in so much pain after working out! I was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis at age 34 after working for 10 years to convince doctors that something was very wrong. In 2015, my medical team added fibromyalgia, ME, and IBS to my records among other health issues. Despite these diagnoses, I'm a survivor! I'm most proud of my work as an ambassador for Canada through the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan. I've worked directly with hospitals in Taipei to help them fundraise for sick kids with rare diseases. To date, I've raised more than $70,000US for sick kids and charities in Taiwan. I've written about my journey since 2007 when I created my first website, My Several Worlds. My professional areas of expertise include helping patients and advocating for chronic illness awareness. I'm an experienced public speaker and publishing professional. I have 25+ years of management and leadership experience. I also have years of professional experience in print and online communications. My diverse work background is viewed as a major plus by clients. I've worked as a ghost writer and I love developing content and creating websites in my free time. I'm a determined, passionate and creative leader that thrives on new challenges and meeting people from all corners of the globe. I've continued to advocate for Taiwan's universal health care system and to help other patients, especially expats, seek prompt attention with medical experts here. Advocating is key! I've learned through my own problems with health care that patient experts should never be afraid to speak out. We're here to help educate medical professionals. There is so much for both sides to learn when we are working together towards a common goal of better health.
