My name is Shawntel Bethea. I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis at 17 years-old. Now at 25, I live life without a Colon, Rectum, and Appendix! I write and blog about my life, IBD and even Mental Health, as my mother was diagnosed with Schizophrenia when I was very young. I am a passionate patient advocate working to improve my advocacy efforts daily. I write for IBD News and CrohnsDisease (dot) com. Nominations

Advocating For Another Rookie of The Year

I am nominating Shawn because she is the strongest person I know. She has had to deal with so much at such a young age and she never complained once. I remember one Christmas she was so excited that her mom was given a day out of the institution to be with family and she went all out to make it the best day for her mom.  — Allisa

She demonstrated strong Woman of Faith and Grace through all the hard illness of her Mother and herself. Faithful Smart and kind without bitterness but Love and humility she wears as her clothing!  — Chiquita
