Whether for work, as a volunteer, or in life, I always follow my passion. I bring that energy with me to inspire and support others in classrooms, meeting rooms, and board rooms. I advocate for what's right, for those I know and love, for others on a global scale, and most recently, for people like me. As an Ambassador with the Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research, I have met, supported, and guided fellow Sarcoidosis Warriors from across the country and beyond, and shared my experience to educate patients, caregivers, and health professionals. I created an annual “Walk ‘n’ Roll” awareness/fundraiser, the first and only sarcoidosis event in Westchester County (NY). I also started the only sarcoidosis support group in my area, to give sarc warriors a chance to share their (our) stories, hopes, and fears with others who understand in ways that no one without this diagnosis truly can. As a Platinum Ambassador and NYS Advocacy Co-Chair with the Arthritis Foundation, I advocate on the state and national level for legislation affecting patients with arthritis and other chronic illnesses. I also help to guide newer advocates through the process, and coordinate groups for advocacy, fundraising, and awareness events throughout the year. I am a Pioneer Member of Savvy Cooperative, a Representative with International Foundation for Autoimmune & Autoinflammatory Arthritis, and an Ambassador with US Pain Foundation. I coordinate blood drives at my synagogue, and volunteer teams for a cancer walk and a suicide prevention walk. I share my own experiences (though not often enough!) through my blog, Float Like a Buttahfly. My ultimate goal, through all of these efforts, is to help people realize that they are not alone in this journey, and that together, we can get through anything.
Kerry Wong has a complicated medical history. She was recently diagnosed with Sarcoidosis. For years, she has volunteered in the arthritis world for the Arthritis Foundation and the IFAA. She advocates for the AF and started the first ever Sarcoidosis Walk in her hometown. Kerry is a dedicated advocate and is truly a Health Hero — kelly
Kerry is the kindest person I have ever met. She is a mentor and a leader who ignites a fire in myself and many others to advocate. Being in constant pain never stops her from helping other people. The world is a better place because of her. — Tracy
Her writing is from the heart and to the point. She is an amazing writer who is able to tell people exactly what she means. You can feel what she is writing. — Frank
