Carol Head

Patient Leader

Carol Head is President of Solve ME/CFS Initiative, largest research and patient advocacy organization for ME/CFS (Myalgic Encephalomyelitus/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome). ME/CFS is a complex, debilitating disease for which there are no FDA approved treatments. The CDC estimates up to 2.5 million Americans suffer, and 25% are housebound or bed-bound during the course of the disease. Under Carol's leadership, the organization had expanded its investment in innovative research to understand the molecular causes of this little understood disease and significantly expanded advocacy work. Recent events include a US Senate briefing. Carol was named a "2017 Health Hero" by Oprah Magazine.
