My name is Wendy Riese and I have an autoimmune disease known as psoriasis. I was diagnosed a little over 7 years ago with this disease. I have been to many doctors and have been on many medications. This past February, I FINALLY received authorization from my insurance company to begin a biologic medication; thanks to the persistence of a new dermatologist and myself. Over the past year, I have become involved in the psoriatic community by advocating against step therapy laws, which prevent patients like myself from receiving proper treatment for their medical condition. I have raised funds towards research for a cure and volunteered at various psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis events.
I'm nominating Wendy Riese because I feel she does so much for the psoriasis community without any recognition. She raises awareness through her own Facebook page. She has a twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn account where she submits her posts. She unselfishly cares about people even as a single mom, caretaker for her mom, and NYC teacher. — Todd
Wendy is dedicated to helping others and raising awareness about psoriasis and psa. She attends most every NPF Walk and Bike ride. She shares uplifting information to members of the psoriasis community. She is a teacher with psoriasis with 2 kids. She also does Instagram. Her time is limited but her voice is loud in our community. — Todd
