I have a Master's in Public Health with a concentration in epidemiology and work as a Senior Research Data Analyst at John's Hopkins School of Medicine. Despite my training, I was unprepared for having a child with infantile spasms, a severe form of epilepsy that often causes profound developmental delays. I was not aware of all of the obstacles to treatment and services that I would face. I had to teach myself. The online support community for infantile spasms is strong, but small. The goal of my advocacy, blog, and Neurology Parent Professionals group is to strengthen the quality of the resources available to families of kids with all neurological disorders. There is strength in numbers!
