I am a memoirist, blogger, and disability advocate, although I was none of these things before being diagnosed with Primary Progressive MS in 2001. In the ensuing years, I lost my ability to pursue outdoor passions like golf, snowmobiling, and hiking. In 2009, a year after I purchased my first wheelchair, I took medical retirement from my chemical engineering career and began writing. Enjoying the Ride: Two Generations of Tragedy and Triumph, is my first book. I am also the author of an award-winning blog, enjoyingtheride.com, where I employ a mixture of humor, inspiration, and straight-talk to share my experiences as a disabled person. I am a contributor at multiplesclerosis.net, and my interviews and essays can be found at various disability websites and journals. I live in South Portland, Maine, with my wife, Kim, where I can usually be found talking to my computer while gazing out over the ocean.
