I became ill when I was 11. It took a lot of self-advocacy, but at the age of 23, I finally had a diagnosis; basilar type migraine. By this time, my health had declined further. I was diagnosed with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome & postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. My journey to diagnosis for each condition was not easy. I was often met with disbelief of my symptoms from medical professionals & suggestions that it was 'all in my head'. When I started my blog, whentaniatalks.com, I wanted to raise awareness of these conditions & challenge the lack support & understanding for those with chronic illnesses. I Volunteer with Migraine Action & the Hypermobility Syndrome Association.
