I am first, a member of a family - child of parents disabled by chronic pain and mental illness, and parent of two young adults. One of whom has suffered from chronic pain due to spine injury from his early teens. Second, I am a member of a professional rehabilitation community. I teach at the university level in both the United States and in Asia. My great good fortune is to be able to share what I have learned about how communities operate (or don't) on behalf of persons with disabilities. Disability is a lifespan issue - if we live long enough we will all be personally affected by it as parents, siblings, personally, or as care partners to family and friends. Chronic pain is my game.
