Dr. Lutz passion for men’s health throughout his more than 30-year career extends far beyond the exam room. He was instrumental in the creation and management of the MIU Men’s Health Foundation and its highly-successful men’s health advocacy events, the MIU Run for the Ribbon and MIU Men’s Health Event. With Dr. Lutz’s leadership, the MIU Men’s Health Foundation has raised approximately $500,000, awarding $30,000 in grants to date to fund prostate cancer/men’s health related issues research.Each year for the past five years, 1,800+ participants have joined the MIU Run for the Ribbon in Detroit, a 5k run/walk to raise funds for prostate cancer research and treatment and to honor prostate cancer survivors. It is now the largest Prostate Cancer run in the country. The MIU Men’s Health Event in its third year, provided 5,700+ local men, even those without insurance, a chance to evaluate their health with free screenings and learn how to better care for themselves.
